Dr. Jennifer Lecrone is licensed as a clincial psychologist in Virginia and Florida. She has more than 15 years experience working with adults and children. She had previously practiced in Tampa for 7 years before recently relocating her practice to the Richmond area. Her areas of expertise include assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, stress in interpersonal/familial relationships, behavioral problems, and parenting challenges.  

 

Dr. Lecrone finished her baccalaureate studies in Biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1995. At Virginia Commonwealth University, she received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 2001 and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling Psychology in 2004. To gain further training in assessment and treatment of children with special needs, she completed a Virginia Leadership Program in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at the Medical College of Virginia.

 

She has provided therapy to children, adults, families, and groups in a variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and schools. ​In Chicago, Dr. Lecrone completed her internship at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and her post-doctoral training at the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center at Mount Sinai Hospital. She worked as a Staff Psychologist at Mount Sinai Hospital prior to moving her practice to Tampa, Florida.

 

Dr. Lecrone was the founder and director of the Family Psychology Center in New Tampa. She enjoyed helping children as young as 4 years old as well as adults. She developed a particular speciality in treating anxiety disorders through additional training and experience, including test anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder as well as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  She also enjoys working with families and couples and received specialized training in Gottman's Method of couples therapy.

She has been quoted in a Tampa Bay Parent Guide magazine providing insight on helping develop empathy in children. 

 

Dr. Lecrone is a member of the Virginia Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and is in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
