Dr. Jennifer Lecrone is the Founder and Direction of Family Psychology Center and has more than 20 years experience working with adults and children. She enjoys treating both in person or through telehealth. She is licensed as a clincial psychologist in Virginia and a PSYPACT provider where she also provides virtual therapy services to clients in other states. This is particialty helpful when a client moves for work or to attend college. 

 

She works primarily with children (ages 8 and above), teens, adults and families. Her areas of expertise include assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, stress in interpersonal/familial relationships, behavioral problems and parenting challenges. She developed a particular speciality in treating anxiety disorders through additional training and experience, including test anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder as well as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She also enjoys working with families and couples and received specialized training in Gottman's Method of couples therapy.

 

Dr. Lecrone received her BA in Biology from the University of Virginia and her MS and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004. To gain further training in assessment and treatment of children with special needs, she completed a Virginia Leadership Program in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at the Medical College of Virginia.

 

She has provided therapy to children, adults, families and groups in a variety of settings including hospitals, community mental health centers, university counseling centers, and schools. ​In Chicago, Dr. Lecrone completed her post-doctoral training at the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center at Mount Sinai Hospital. She worked as a Staff Psychologist at Mount Sinai and was the founder and director of the Family Psychology Center in New Tampa. She has been quoted by Tampa Bay Parent magazine providing insight on helping develop empathy in children.

Dr. Lecrone is married with three children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, sports and the theatre.

 

Dr. Lecrone is a member of the Virginia Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, and is in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
